Interestingly Anushka who never believed much in astrology is going ga ga over this book since her Chinese Zodiac Sign has revealed some interesting facts of her life. And Anushka doesn't want to keep this knowledge to herself but is persuading everyone on the sets to read it too.

"I learned my Chinese zodiac sign. It's so true for me and also true for people I know. Now I am making people read their Chinese zodiacs on the sets too", says Anushka.

Anushka Sharma Seems Worried

Anushka Sharma is somewhat worried these days. She has a three film contract with Yash Raj Films. So far so good.

After her great turn with 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi', one would have expected YRF to to promptly start another project and cash in on her popularity and the huge success of the film.

However, that that doesn't seem to be happening. For some reasons both her films are indefinately delayed.

Since her contract forbids her her from working outside, she is sitting at home twiddling her thumbs!

Anusha Sharma and Shahid Kapur In Untitles Film

By all chances, Anushka Sharma and Shahid Kapur can be seen paired opposite each other in Yashraj’s untitled venture to be directed by Parmeet Sethi.

Trying new actors and giving chances to debutants seems to be the new mantra of Yashraj Films . After introducing Anushka in the runaway hit Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi , the production house is reported to be making another film with her in female lead. And Shahid, who’s already working in the banner’s ‘Hadippa’ (tentatively titled) with Rani Mukherjee , is set to be Anushka’s hero.

According to sources, Parmeet Sethi has written the script which Aditya Chopra liked instantly and decided to back the project. Well, Parmeet’s association with the YRF has been since he acted in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge . It’s heard that Parmeet has also signed a contract with YRF for three films.

The film is believed to be a romantically themed family drama set in Punjab. It is reported that Adi recommended Anushka’s name to Parmeet for the film. And Shahid reportedly gave nod to the project once he heard the narration and his character sketch.

But following the YRF convention, everyone is tight-lipped about the project. The movie will reportedly go on floors by the end of this year.

As for now, Yashraj Films is waiting for their year’s first release New York , starring John Abraham , Katrina Kaif and Neil Nitin Mukesh .

Anushka Sharma in army quaters

anushka sharma
Anushka Sharma has been catapulted to star status with her debut in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. But Anushka Sharma says she is a simple girl just like her character in the movie and has no plans to move into a plush home as she is enjoying her stay in the army quarters here.

"Anushka Sharma kept coming to Mumbai for modelling assignments. I decided to move into Mumbai a year ago with my mom, since my dad is posted out. I haven't bought my place. Right now I'm very comfortable in the army quarters. I don't feel the need to move from where I am," Anushka told IANS.

The actress, who has signed one more film with Yash Raj Films, says she was lucky to be brought up in Bangalore.
anushka sharma
"Otherwise army officers, who give their lives for the country, could be posted anywhere in the back of beyond. That gets really tough on their kids. Me and my brother (who used to be a state-level cricketer) got the best of education in Bangalore," said Anushka.

Directed by Aditya Chopra, the romance drama starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka hit bull's eye at the box office and the collections are going strong even after three weeks.

Ask her how she managed to be so natural in her first film, Anushka said: "All the while I was modelling in Bangalore, maybe there was an actor lurking within me. I'm crazy about my modelling work. I love the ramp and the backstage banter. I moved to Mumbai a year ago. Movies were not a priority. I don't come from a film background, don't know how the industry works. I didn't know anyone here."

She didn't have to make a strenuous effort to act.
anushka sharma
"Even modelling is a kind of performance. On the ramp you are representing a concept. In a film, you're projecting an individual. But the transition wasn't hard for me. Because in real life I'm as simple as the girl I play in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Yes, I do like to dress up and walk the ramp. But that isn't the real me."

The newcomer is receiving compliments from all and sundry, but says the best came from Yash Chopra himself.

"He came up to me and said mine was one of the best performances he had seen by a debutante. He placed his hand on my head while saying this. So he was blessing me," said Anushka.

Unlike other Yash Raj Films heroines, she was not presented with the poised finesse and sophistication associated with the banner.

The newcomer defends the banner, saying: "You're right. Even when actresses are presented as seedhi-saadhi (girl next door) in a Yash Raj film, they are glamorous. And coming from a glamour background I wouldn't have minded being glossy in my first film. But you know what?

"This was such a huge opportunity. I couldn't have asked for more. I fell in love with my character and the film. It's a dream role for any debutante. I can always get into a chiffon sari in the next Yash Raj movie. Or the one after that...."

Although Rab Ne... is Anushka's first film, she wasn't over-instructed for her role.

"Adi never told me what to do beyond a point. In fact, he gave me the liberty to interpret my character the way I wanted after making me read the lines. Imagine a newcomer getting so much freedom in her first film!

"I must have given Ravi Chandran (director of photography) so much grief. I knew nothing about camera angles. I didn't even understand focus marks. Shah Rukh was doing that for me. Adi and Shah Rukh made things so comfortable for me. These things matter a lot when you're starting out."

Commenting on her co-star, Anushka says she was always a huge Shah Rukh fan.

"My dad is in the army and when they would've these functions in the mess, I'd dance to Shah Rukh's Kitabe bahut si padhi hogi from Baazigar. I must've been three at that time.

"I wasn't just Shah Rukh's fan. I'm his big admirer. I always loved the way he conducted himself. Now after having worked with him, I love him even more. Rab Ne... was like my school where Shah Rukh and Adi were my teachers."

The Best Debutants of 2008-Asin Or Anushka

anushka sharma
2008 was a year of great variety among debutants. Two of the brightest female faces of 2008, Asin and Anushka Sharma came within two weeks of each other. If Asin in 'Ghajini' was an expressions ki dukaan, Anushka Sharma in 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' was far more controlled and reined -in. This model from Bangalore was in no hurry to let us know all the tricks of her trade in one go. Aram se was Anushka. Asin was a storehouse of expressions, a Sridevi on steroids.

And a month earlier we had Mugdha Godse, yet another new feminine flavour for 2008 who made a blasting impact. Bold and uninhibited, she stood her ground in 'Fashion' in spite of an author-backed part for Priyanka Chopra.

A fourth fabulous female debutante came earlier during the year. Prachi Desai with her sweet and tender big-screen debut in 'Rock On' proved television stars do shine in cinema. The myth that television actors falter and fall while making that transition (look at poor Amarr Upadhyay, he is back on television after trying everything on the big screen from horror to Bhojpuri) was broken twice over in 2008. Not just Prachi. But also Rajeev Khandelwal who made a powerful debut in Aamir along with director Rajkumar Gupta who emblazoned his name with a tale of terrorism that traveled the tormented streets of Mumbai in scampering motions.

If 'Aamir' gave us a camera-worthy director in Rajkumar Gupta, two other directors dabbling in terrorism - Nishikant Kamat in 'Mumbai Meri Jaan' and Neeraj Pandey in 'A Wednesday' - came out with flying colours.

Indeed 2008 was the year of demoniacal directorial impact. Abhishek Kapoor who had once acted in a film titled 'Uff Yeh Mohabbat' with his then-girlfriend Twinkle Kapadia in the lead was resurrected as the man behind 'Rock On'. For all practical purposes this was Abhishek's beginning as a director and what a debut!

Ditto Munnabhai writer turned director Abbas Tyrewala, who shone in meteoric motions in the inspiring company of his debut making hero Imran Khan in 'Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na'.

The debutant directors who came during the earlier part of the year like Vijay Krishna Acharya ('Tashan'), Jaideep Sen ('Krazzy 4') and Vivek Sharma ('Bhoothnath') couldn't live up to the hype created around their debut.

But actor Imran Khan did. He was hands-down the male discovery of the year. Sassy, spontaneous, practical and sensible, Imran's freshness of approach to acting was contagious. The nation contracted the Imran virus. Harman Baweja who made his debut on the same day as Imran was far filmier. Like Asin, he knows it all. And doesn't hide it.

Anushka feel like 60yr old stucked in 20yr old body

anushka sharma
With a debut with SRK in a Yash Raj Production, this blue eyed girl from Bangalore could not have asked for anything more. We introduce you to Anushka Sharma

What was your reaction when you first met Shah Rukh Khan?

Anushka Sharma: You will not believe that when I first met Shah Rukh Khan on the sets of the film, I could not recognise him. He was in his Surinder Sahni look with a moustache. In fact, it was he who came to me, introduced himself, shook my hands and congratulated me on being part of the project.

When you were first narrated the script of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi , didn’t you have any questions about your character, Tani not recognising her husband?
Anushka Sharma: Yes, I had my apprehensions about the script and I even discussed them with Aditya Chopra. But Shah Rukh Khan played both parts so well that I thought I was acting with two different persons.

If given a choice in real life, would you like to settle down with a person like Raj or Suri?

Anushka Sharma: Suri definitely! Suri is a very nice person. External beauty will not stay forever but internal beauty will. I would like to settle down with a person who will love me more than anyone has ever loved before.

So is Anuskha Sharma similar to Tani in real life?
Anushka Sharma: I am very similar to Tani. I am a sixty year old trapped in a 20 year old body. I am a very boring person. I am very shy at times. But I am comfortable with the people I know, and usually very chatty with them.

Which was your toughest and favourite scene in the film?
Anushka Sharma: Most of my favourite scenes are with Suri. I liked him more than Raj. The toughest scene was when Raj and Tani decide to run away. I had cried so many times when we were rehearsing that I could not cry any more. I was trying really hard to cry.

Which is the best compliment that you have received and from whom?
Anushka Shamra: The best compliment came from Shah Rukh Khan when he thanked me for making Rab Ne… very beautiful and special.

I love to play action roles:Anushka Sharma

anushka sharam
Q. How does it feel to be a Bollywood star?

The media attention is too much to handle. Shooting for the movie was easier! Giving interviews have become exhausting both physically and emotionally.

Q. How did you feel when you were offered 'RNBDJ'?

It felt great. Aditya called me in his office and asked me whether I wanted to do the film. I said yes and now I have a three film contract with Yash Raj Films. I am also allowed to do movies outside Yash Raj, if it helps my career.
Q. Tell us something about Aditya Chopra.

Aditya Chopra is passionate about his work and he can’t see anything beyond that. He is a person who wants to remain grounded and be amongst his people. He cares least about being a star director.

Q. What do you do in your free time?

I read a lot. I just completed reading 'Kite Runner', and now I am reading '3 Cups of tea'. I also like listening to music.

Q. Did you listen to 'Rab Ne...' songs?

I love the songs of 'Rab Ne...'. I keep listening to the songs and the magic of the music doesn't seem to wear off!

Q. How many times have you seen 'Rab Ne...'?

I have seen it four times. And I’ve always entered the theatre after the start and came out before the end. But I tell you, the response is just too good. It feels good to have the first hand experience!
Q. Did you actually ride the bike in 'Rab Ne..'?

Yeah, I did and it was a 650 cc bike. I kept asking Shah Rukh what if the bike fells, to which he replied, "Mujhe kya farak padega? I’ll jump and then you have to decide what to do". We did fall during the shooting but Shah Rukh Khan shielded me from the wall. I was saved from being bruised.
Q. In 'Rab Ne...', your character Taani fails to recognise her own husband. Don't you think the idea is far-fetched?

No, I don’t. Taani has always looked through Suri. There is a scene in the movie when Suri tries to change himself and changes his walk slightly, but his wife pays no heed. Taani is justified in not recognizing her husband. She can’t imagine her simple husband who wears glasses, trousers and full sleeve shirts to change into a cool Raj who wears tight jeans, rayban glasses and would enroll himself into dance classes!
Q. There has been comparisons made between you, Asin and Sonam.

I don’t look at competition. I only concentrate on my work. If I think of what others are doing, when will I get time to do my work? As for the resemblance between me and Sonam, I don’t think I look like her at all. She has totally different features.

Q. Any dream role you would like to come your way.

I would love to play a female superman.
