Sky is the limit for Anushka

If we say sky is the limit for Anushka Sharma, it won’t be bad really as she is looking beyond Yash Raj banner.

According to the reports, Anushka Sharma has signed a contract with the banner under which they won’t just make three films with her, but she is free to work outside the YRF banner if she wishes.

Talking to this reporter in Mumbai Anushka said that “I’m looking at a lot of projects outside the Yash Raj banner. I am no stranger to contracts, I know how they work.”

“Look, I’ve been working since the time I was 16 years old. I choose my work carefully,” the actress added. At the same time the Anushka said that she’s ready to with Yash Raj camp once again and would be signing contract once again.

Not only this, the actress is pretty busy with other activities too. These days she’s learning to play squash. Besides films, I have a life. I have a family to visit, books to read and experiences to gain, the actress said.

Anushka Sharma Leaves Yash Raj Camp

Anushka Sharma is free to sign films outside the Yash Raj banner and that's just what she is poised to

Here’s one actress who knows what she is signing. Not blinded by the opportunity to debut with a banner like Yash Raj Films, Anushka Sharma has signed a contract with the banner under which they won’t just make three films with her, but she is free to work outside the YRF banner if she wishes.

But where is Anushka then? “I’ve been right here,” replies Anushka. “I spoke as much as I could about Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, and now I’m busy reading scripts. I’m looking at a lot of projects outside the Yash Raj banner. I am no stranger to contracts, I know how they work. Look, I’ve been working since the time I was 16 years old. I choose my work carefully. When Rab Ne... released, people misunderstood that I will be seen next only in a Yash Raj film. But that’s hardly true. Besides, in today’s age who will offer a newcomer a contract that binds her?” Anushka adds that she’s on the verge of signing a couple of projects, both outside and within the Yash Raj banner.

While on the lookout for other films, Anushka is busy with sports. “I’m learning to play squash. My elder brother Karnesh though refuses to play with me. He says, leave alone the chances of my improvement, he might just end up forgetting his game. Besides films, I have a life. I have a family to visit, books to read and experiences to gain,” she says, full of life.

Anushka Sharma Seems Worried

Anushka Sharma is somewhat worried these days. She has a three film contract with Yash Raj Films. So far so good.

After her great turn with 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi', one would have expected YRF to to promptly start another project and cash in on her popularity and the huge success of the film.

However, that that doesn't seem to be happening. For some reasons both her films are indefinately delayed.

Since her contract forbids her her from working outside, she is sitting at home twiddling her thumbs!

Anusha Sharma and Shahid Kapur In Untitles Film

By all chances, Anushka Sharma and Shahid Kapur can be seen paired opposite each other in Yashraj’s untitled venture to be directed by Parmeet Sethi.

Trying new actors and giving chances to debutants seems to be the new mantra of Yashraj Films . After introducing Anushka in the runaway hit Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi , the production house is reported to be making another film with her in female lead. And Shahid, who’s already working in the banner’s ‘Hadippa’ (tentatively titled) with Rani Mukherjee , is set to be Anushka’s hero.

According to sources, Parmeet Sethi has written the script which Aditya Chopra liked instantly and decided to back the project. Well, Parmeet’s association with the YRF has been since he acted in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge . It’s heard that Parmeet has also signed a contract with YRF for three films.

The film is believed to be a romantically themed family drama set in Punjab. It is reported that Adi recommended Anushka’s name to Parmeet for the film. And Shahid reportedly gave nod to the project once he heard the narration and his character sketch.

But following the YRF convention, everyone is tight-lipped about the project. The movie will reportedly go on floors by the end of this year.

As for now, Yashraj Films is waiting for their year’s first release New York , starring John Abraham , Katrina Kaif and Neil Nitin Mukesh .

Anushka sharma's real life hero Major Gopi Rathore

My first crush

She forced the King of Bollywood to dance, dress silly and do a double role in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. But who is Anushka Sharma’s real-life hero? The actress talks to Sify.com about her first crush, a dapper Major who left a lasting impression on her, and why she’s more proud of her army background than of her acting.

My real-life hero is Major Gopi Rathore, who sadly is a martyr now.

He was one of my father’s officers from the 16 Garhwal Rifles. He died fighting militants in Jammu and Kashmir.

The truth is, he was my first crush.

He was someone I really looked up to, not only because of his great attributes as an officer, but also because of who he was as a person.

He motivated me to write.

I used to write, I still do. And he was the one who encouraged me.

Major Gopi Rathore was tall and good-looking. He was everything a woman would want in a man. A bachelor and a one-time ADC (Aide De Camp) to President KR Narayanan, he was just five days shy of his 35th birthday when he died.

I still remember the day he paid me a visit at the School NCC camp in Ooty.

He was passing by and decided to come over and surprise me at the camp. He left behind a lot of goodies, chocolates etc. How could a girl not lose her heart to such a thoughtful and gallant hero?

Anushka Lose over Asin at Filmfare awards

While one has bagged all the Best Debut (Female) awards at all award nights, one is trying desperately to make her presence felt. This is the story of Asin and Anushka Sharma.

First Star Screen then Stardust and now the Filmfare Award... Asin has proved that she is here to rock. Unfortunately for Anushka, making a debut with a prestigious banner like Yash Raj opposite Shah Rukh Khan hasn’t proved fruitful.

Where are the Yashraj chicks?

Both the actresses made their sensational debut opposite Bollywood’s two mighty Khans. But Asin who paired opposite Aamir managed to get accolades for playing Kalpana in Ghajini while SRK walked away with all the limelight and appreciation for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

And while Asin has bagged another big banner film London Dreams, Anushka is stuck with her three films deal with Yashraj film. Buzz is that no other filmmaker is thinking of casting her because of her contract with Yash Raj.

When asked about the awards Anushka said, “I am not worried about who gets the award. I have done my job with full dedication. I am happy that my work has been appreciated by people.” Interestingly, while offers are flowing in for Asin, Anushka has turned to the small screen with a show Knights and Angels where she plays a judge, maybe in an effort to prevent audience wiping her off their minds. There’s no doubt that Asin has got the best deal.

Anushka Srks angel Number one

The Indian Premier League is just a month away and hoping to cheer for Shah Rukh Khan's team -- the Kolkata Knight Riders -- are a group of 24 young girls.

The girls are vying for a place in the six-member cheerleading squad to be chosen by audience votes during a unique television show called Knights and Angels, which kicked off on February 28 on NDTV Imagine.

The brainchild of Shah Rukh Khan, this much-awaited reality dance show will trace the hunt for six spirited and talented girls to lead the cheerleading squad of the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Adding his final stamp of authority would be judge Sourav Ganguly, the inimitable icon of Indian cricket and captain of Kolkata Knight Riders. Shah Rukh has also managed to rope in his Rab Ne Bana De Jodi heroine, Anushka Sharma to judge the show, which will be hosted by VJ-turned actor Purab Kohli.

After an extensive audition conducted across key metros in India, the 24 short-listed girls will be groomed and trained by the biggest names in the Indian entertainment industry.

From there, the final six will be chosen on qualities like energy, style, chutzpah, poise, personality, attitude, grace, rhythm, and fire.

They will then be mentored by ace choreographer Shiamak Davar and taken through their paces by the revolving guest judges.

Sounds exciting? Well, Shah Rukh is pretty excited himself. "Cricket is a perfect blend of hard work and entertainment. We are very excited about the whole challenge of finding the best cheerleading squad for our Knights. These girls will become a key part in our quest for victory this season. The competition is tough and the boys will need all the support they can get on field," he said.

Well, let's hear from the girls.

In the picture: Girls give it their best shot as they perform with Anushka Sharma (centre) during the show.
