Anushka sharma's real life hero Major Gopi Rathore

My first crush

She forced the King of Bollywood to dance, dress silly and do a double role in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. But who is Anushka Sharma’s real-life hero? The actress talks to Sify.com about her first crush, a dapper Major who left a lasting impression on her, and why she’s more proud of her army background than of her acting.

My real-life hero is Major Gopi Rathore, who sadly is a martyr now.

He was one of my father’s officers from the 16 Garhwal Rifles. He died fighting militants in Jammu and Kashmir.

The truth is, he was my first crush.

He was someone I really looked up to, not only because of his great attributes as an officer, but also because of who he was as a person.

He motivated me to write.

I used to write, I still do. And he was the one who encouraged me.

Major Gopi Rathore was tall and good-looking. He was everything a woman would want in a man. A bachelor and a one-time ADC (Aide De Camp) to President KR Narayanan, he was just five days shy of his 35th birthday when he died.

I still remember the day he paid me a visit at the School NCC camp in Ooty.

He was passing by and decided to come over and surprise me at the camp. He left behind a lot of goodies, chocolates etc. How could a girl not lose her heart to such a thoughtful and gallant hero?
